1) How do I get to Parliament House?

We are located at No. 1 Parliament Place, Singapore 178880. Visitors should come in by the Public Entrance which is located along Parliament Place. Those who drive can park at the public underground carpark located along Parliament Place. City Hall MRT Station is 10 minutes' walk away. Bus commuters from the eastern part of the city should alight at the bus-stop in front of Funan Centre, along North Bridge Road, and those from the western part of the city should alight in front of MICA Building at Hill Street.

3) Are Parliament proceedings open to the public?

Yes, Parliament proceedings are open to the public.

4) Do I need to inform anyone or book a seat before coming to Parliament?

Parliament does not accept booking or reservation of seats. The Serjeant-at-Arms issues Admission Orders to members of the public who apply in person at the Public Lobby, if there are still seats available.

5) Do I need to bring my identity card to apply for an Admission Order?

Yes, you are required to bring your identity card or passport to exchange for an Admission Order at the Public Lobby.

6) How long is a Parliament sitting?

Sittings usually start at 1:30 p.m. and end when all the items of business on the Order Paper have been discussed or when Parliament decides to adjourn.

7) Are there breaks in the course of a sitting?

There is usually a break of 15 to 20 minutes during a sitting.

8) How do I know if Parliament is sitting?

Notices of sittings are publicised in the media. The notice is also found in this website.

9) What are the rules that I must observe during a sitting?

When you enter the Public Gallery, you shall bow to the Speaker before taking your seat. You shall remain silent and not gesticulate, read books or papers, sketch or draw. You shall abstain from making any interruptions.

10) What is the the acceptable dress code?

Visitors are requested to dress modestly and not to come in shorts, jeans, round-neck T-shirts or slippers.

11) Must I arrive before 1:30 p.m. and remain for the entire duration of the sitting?

You can arrive and leave at any time between 1:30 p.m. and the end of a sitting.

12) Can I take part in the debates?

Visitors are not allowed to take part in the debates. They shall observe the proceedings in silence.

13) Where can I find the Official Report of the debate?

The Official Report is available on this website 10 days after a sitting.

14) Where can I find the agenda for a sitting?

The agenda is found in the Order Paper.

15) How many MPs are there in the 11th Parliament?

There are currently 84 elected MPs and 1 Non-Constituency MP and 9 Nominated MPs.

16) How many women MPs are there in the present Parliament?

There are 17 elected women MPs, 1 Non-Constituency women MP and 5 Nominated women MPs.

17) How many Single Member Constituencies (SMCs) and Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) are there in the present Parliament?

There are 9 SMCs and 14 GRCs in the present Parliament.

18) Where can I find a list of GPCs?

GPC is the acronym for Government Parliamentary Committees. These Committees are not set up by Parliament. Members of the GPCs belong to the Government Party. You can find out more about GPCs through useful links .
